Cox’s Bazar — October 4, 2026

A 20-year-old Rohingya TomTom driver was injured after gunfire broke out during a confrontation in Camp-2W on Sunday afternoon, according to local residents.

The injured man, identified as Asmot Ullah, was reportedly passing through the area in his vehicle when the confrontation escalated near an Ansar post at around 4:40 pm.

Local residents told Rohingya Khobor that the incident began after a Rohingya woman was allegedly harassed by a group of men while walking along a road in the camp.

According to their accounts, the woman informed her brother, who then went to confront the men. A quarrel followed, and he was reportedly assaulted.

Residents said another confrontation later developed involving several men. Local sources alleged that people associated with armed Rohingya groups were present during the confrontation, but Rohingya Khobor could not independently verify their affiliations.

Gunfire broke out during the confrontation, according to the residents.

Asmot Ullah, who was reportedly driving through the area at the time, was injured in the shooting. He was later taken to a hospital for treatment.

His current condition was not immediately known.

It remains unclear who fired the shots or whether Asmot Ullah was deliberately targeted. Rohingya Khobor could not independently establish the exact sequence of events or verify claims about the involvement of particular armed groups.

Further information from camp authorities or law enforcement was not immediately available.
