On Monday (September 5) local people arrested three Rohingyas while escaping from Noakhali’s Bhasanchar Rohingya Shelter Project and handed them over to the police. During initial interrogation, they told the police that they had left Bhasanchar to go to Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar through brokers.

They have been held from the intersection area of Mohammadpur Union of the upazila at around 9 pm.

The arrested Rohingyas are Zainal Hossain (24) Md. Zubair (23)) Zohra Khatun (15) of cluster no. 63 of Bhasanchar shelter.

“On investigation, it is known that the detained Rohingyas come through Mumtaz Khali area of Companyganj and there is a place called Mohabbat Khop next to Bhasanchar,” the local said.

“Farid Majhi manages it. The Rohingyas flee from here to different directions. This Farid Majhi has a connection with fishermen. With the help of Farid Majhi and local fishermen, the Rohingyas get chance to escape from Bhasanchar.”

Charjabbar police station duty officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Farzana Akhter confirmed the truth of the incident and said that after reporting to the Charjabbar police station, the police arrested them and brought them to the police station.

She also said that legal action will be taken after talking to the higher authorities.
