Buthidaung, Arakan State — October 7, 2026

A 17-year-old Rohingya girl was reportedly taken from a village in Buthidaung Township on Wednesday afternoon by people local sources identified as members of the Arakan Army (AA).

According to information received by Rohingya Khobor, the girl was taken from Wara Chowan village at around 2 pm on October 7.

Local sources alleged that AA members took the girl away from the village. They further claimed that she was taken with the intention of making her join the armed group.

Rohingya Khobor could not independently verify who took the girl or the allegation that she was taken for recruitment.

Her current whereabouts and condition were not known at the time of publication.

It was also unclear whether her family had been able to contact her or had received any information about her since she was taken.

Rohingya Khobor is withholding the girl’s identity because she is a minor and publishing identifying details could potentially put her at further risk.

The AA has not been quoted in the information available to Rohingya Khobor responding to the allegation.
