On 13 September 2021, the National Unity Government (NUG) declared revolution and uprising against the military council who has seized control of the country on 1 February.
Since the military coup in Myanmar, more than one thousand people have been killed and more than six thousand have been arrested.
The NUG is mostly dominated by lawmakers from the National League for Democracy (NLD). However, when Aung San Suu Kyi was asked about the declaration of the war, her lawyer Khin Maung Zaw said that she had “no comment”.
