On Monday morning, Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) detained 4 Myanmar nationals along with a speed boat near Nazi Para, Teknaf Union, while escaping at Myanmar.

According to the locals, the detainees are members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP), however, the detainees have not been confirmed in any responsible source whether they are members of the BGP or ordinary citizens of Myanmar.

Locals said the 4 Myanmar nationals arrived in Maulvi Para village along with a Yaba shipment from Myanmar. On their way back, they were detained by BGB members. However, no eyewitness statements were found at the time of reporting.

The officer in charge named Nurul of the Border Out Post (BOP) in Nazi para suggested contacting BGB-2 Battalion in headquarter of Teknaf as the detainees were taken there.

In this connection, BGB Teknaf-2 Battalion one named Major Shariful Islam (Deputy Chief) confirmed to the journalists that four Myanmar nationals were detained but did not specify whether they were members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP). They were taken for remand, he added
