Chattogram to Host Key Discussion on Rohingya Crisis on September 26

Chattogram, September 23, 2025, Chattogram Forum has announced that it will host a major discussion meeting titled “Rohingya Crisis in the Eyes of Chattogram: Humanity, Security and Future” on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:30 am. The event will take place at July Biplob Hall, Chattogram Press Club (8th floor).

The program will feature Faruk e Azam (Bir Pratik), Honorable Advisor, Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Relief and Disaster Management, as the Chief Guest.

Speakers at the event will include:

  • Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, Additional Secretary and Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), Government of Bangladesh.
  • Advocate ASM Badrul Anwar, Member, Bangladesh Bar Council and Former President of Chattogram Bar Association.
  • Nurul Islam, Chairman, Arakan Rohingya National Alliance.
  • Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury, President, BHRF.
  • Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Alam, Politician and BNP Leader.
  • Syed Ahsan Khalid, Associate Professor, Department of Law, Chattogram University.
  • Hossain Ahamed Ziyad, Bureau Chief, Ekhon Television.
  • Shamsuddin Illius, Bureau Chief, The Business Standard.
  • Faizunnesa Toru, Assistant Professor, International Islamic University Chattogram.

A concept paper will be presented by Dr. Shahidul Haque, Associate Professor and former Head, Department of Communication and Journalism, Chattogram University.

The session will be presided over by Advocate Zia Habib Ahsan, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation (BHRF), and moderated by Saleh Noman, Divisional Editor of The Daily Times of Bangladesh and Secretary of the Chattogram Metropolitan Union of Journalists (CMUJ).

Organizers said the discussion will focus on the humanitarian dimensions of the Rohingya crisis, the security challenges facing the region, and prospects for the future.
