Cox’s Bazar, September 26, 2026 — A 14-year-old Rohingya boy from Camp 10 was reportedly taken to Camp 17 on September 23 and later found after being left on a road, according to camp sources who spoke to Rohingya Khobor.
The sources alleged that a man known to the boy offered to buy him snacks before taking him away. They said the boy was kept in a shelter in Camp 17 and was injured while there.
According to the sources, the boy’s family received photographs of his injuries along with a demand for money. Rohingya Khobor has not seen the messages or confirmed who sent them.
The sources said a group of students noticed the boy while he was being moved and followed the man accompanying him. They said the man fled, leaving the boy behind. The date of the boy’s return to his family remains unclear.
Camp sources also said local residents later caught a man they suspected of involvement and handed him to police. Rohingya Khobor has not confirmed the handover with police or established whether a complaint has been filed. The man’s alleged role has not been independently verified.
