The past five years have seen very grave setbacks to human rights in Myanmar. The rise in Buddhist nationalism, military attacks and discriminatory legislation all contribute to violations of the right to freedom of religion or belief (FoRB). Targeted violations against religious and ethnic minorities in Chin, Kachin, Rakhine and Shan states are of particular concern.

Join Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), Burma Human Rights Network (BHRN), Chin Human Rights Organisation (CHRO) and Burmese Rohingya Organisation UK (BROUK) for a panel discussion addressing the key concerns and recommendations on FoRB in Myanmar ahead of the country’s Universal Periodic Review.

The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A.

THE PANELLISTS

– Benedict Rogers, Senior Analyst for East Asia, CSW

– Kyaw Win, Executive Director, Burma Human Rights Network

– Salai Za Uk Ling, Deputy Executive Director, Chin Human Rights Organization

– Tun Khin, President of Burmese Rohingya Organization UK

MODERATED BY

– Claire Denman, United Nations Officer, CSWTime

Date and Time

Dec 16, 2020 11:00 AM in Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna
