Maungdaw- A huge team of Tatmadaw and Hlun Htein personal entered the restive village tract of Ludaing and detained scores of Rohingyas.
As the forces entered the village at around 11am on Friday, the villagers, including women and children scattered and fled. However, the Tatmadaw and Hlun Htein managed to catch scores of villagers.
Ludaing was one of the villages targeted during the recent clearance operation, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians. As a result, there is still panic at the approach of the security forces.
The raid however came as a surprise as locals did not anticipate the sudden arrival of so many Tatmadaw and Hlun Htein personal, which numbered at around 300 personnal. There was a sudden feeling that the Tatmadaw was resuming operations that had been halted in December leading to utter terror in the area.
The arrested Rohingyas were taken to a school where many were severely beaten up.
11 of them have been taken to custody while the rest were released.
