Cox’s Bazar refugee camp: On Tuesday (October 11) around 9 pm, some miscreants shot a Rohongya mazee at block I-1 of camp 9 in Balukhali, Ukhiya police station, while the victim was checking on duty volunteers whether they were guarding properly.
The victim is Mohammed Hussein (a head mazee, block leader), son of Mohammed Mia, lives in I-1 block of camp 9 in Balukhali.
A refugee, another block leader of the same camp, who declined to be named said that Mohammad Hussein was inquiring whether the volunteers were performing the duty of guarding properly in the various blocks of the camp. At this time, three-four masked people suddenly took out weapons from their waists and shot three times in a row and ran away.
“The locals rushed him to IOM hospital. After providing him primary treatment, the doctor sent him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital in critical condition,” another refugee said.
Md. Faroque Ahmed, Assistant superintendent of Armed Police Battalion confirmed the matter by saying that being informed regarding the incident, police recovered the victim and sent to IOM hospital for treatment, but due to critical condition, the doctor immediately sent him to Cox’s bazar.
“The operation of capturing the culprits is underway,” Faroque added.
