The approximately 20 families of Nga Khin Tauk, Buthidaung made an announcement that Rohingyas who are currently settled in destroyed villages have to pay 50,000 kyats every month, according to an announcement made by village authorities.
Following the massacre of 2017, only a few families remained in the village. The houses still standing were burned down and looted by Rakhine mobs later.
Oral directives by government officials have stated that villages destroyed in the military operations are now state property.
