Cox’s Bazar, 2 September 2026: Three Rohingya men were sentenced to 15 days’ imprisonment after being detained for allegedly gambling with playing cards in Camp 22, Unchiprang, Teknaf, according to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

The three were identified as Abu Tayeb, 26, Korban Ali, 19, and Selim, 19.

According to APBn, they were detained at around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday from a betel leaf and cigarette shop near the hills in Block D/2 of Camp 22.

Police said a patrol team led by Unchiprang APBn Camp In-Charge Police Inspector Humayun Kabir conducted the raid after receiving information about gambling at the location.

APBn said officers found the three men allegedly gambling with playing cards and seized Tk 1,860 along with the cards.

They were later taken to the Camp 22 Camp-in-Charge office, where Executive Magistrate and Senior Assistant Secretary Md Rony Alam Nur conducted a mobile court at around noon.

According to APBn, the mobile court sentenced each of the three men to 15 days’ imprisonment.

They were later transferred to Teknaf Model Police Station under APBn security for further legal procedures.

The incident was also recorded in the general diary of the Unchiprang APBn camp.

The specific legal provision used by the mobile court could not be independently confirmed.
