On Monday, The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) carried out a five-day humanitarian aid distribution campaign in the Rohingya refugee camp. A variety of food items were distributed to 5,000 Rohingya families.

Ismail Gundogdu, the state-run aid body’s Bangladesh coordinator said to Anadolu Agency, “As part of our continuous support to the persecuted Rohingya Muslims, we have completed the distribution of our first winter package.”

Each family aid package included 5 kilograms of potatoes, 1 kilogram of chickpeas, half a kilogram of dried fish, half a kilogram of garlic, 2 kilograms of lentils, 1 kilogram of sugar and 2 kilograms of flour.

Earlier in September, TIKA distributed 5,000 packages of dry food items amongst the Rohingya including healthcare items.

Shafiq, a Rohingya beneficiary from this campaign thanked the government and people of Turkey for the continuous support for the Rohingya people.

Another woman from the refugee camp said, “We can not forget the day when the wife of the current president visited us in Rakhine and still today I see her love and tears. We Rohingya pray for Turkey and its people every day”.

The coordinator further said, “Such generous support from the Turkish government to the stateless Rohingya community in Bangladesh would be continued in future.”
