Two Rohingya men were reportedly injured in an attack involving a hammer in Camp-19 in Cox’s Bazar on the evening of September 16, according to information received by Rohingya Khobor.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 7:30 p.m. near the 2 Tikka Bazar area in Block D/D7.
According to a local source, three Rohingya men were returning from the direction of Camp-18 when they were confronted by several unidentified people.
One of the three reportedly escaped, while the other two were assaulted and injured.
The injured men were identified by the source as Abdul Aziz, 27, from Block D of Camp-19, and Shamsho, 28, son of Rashid Ahmed, from Block B5 of Camp-13.
Community members reportedly took the two men to an IOM-supported primary healthcare facility for treatment.
Rohingya Khobor has not independently confirmed the severity of their injuries, whether either man was later referred to another medical facility, or their current medical condition.
The identity of the attackers and the motive for the assault remain unknown.
The incident has not yet been independently confirmed by the Armed Police Battalion, police, camp authorities or the healthcare provider.
