Maungdaw, April 19, 2026 — Residents in several neighborhoods of Maungdaw town are facing serious hardship due to a broken water supply system, with many struggling to access clean water for daily use.

According to local sources, water pipes are contaminated and the supply remains irregular, leaving many families without sufficient water on time.

“It is very difficult for us to get water every day. Sometimes there is no water at all,” one resident said.

Another resident said, “We have to buy water or walk long distances to collect it. This is making our daily life very hard.”

Residents said children and elderly family members are particularly at risk, as the lack of clean water could lead to health problems.

If the situation does not improve, residents fear it may lead to more serious health and living conditions.

Local people are calling on authorities to take immediate action to repair the system and ensure a stable and safe water supply.
