On Friday, the chairman of Halodiapalong union detained 39 Rohingya youths and handed over them to Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), while they were playing a friendly football match wearing jerseys, in a corner of large playground outside camp in Ukhiya on their self-funded feast.

Eyewitnesses said that the UNO sent the detainees to their respective camps through police, who were fined ranging from 100 to 500 tk by Camp in Charge (CiC).

One of them, under the condition of anonymity said that they have no playground to play football inside their camp.

“We some of the friends got together and discussed to play a football match on our self funded feast. Later on Friday afternoon, we went to a playground closed to our camp. No sooner we started the match, the locals encircled us and handed over to Chairman after heavy humiliations,” another Rohingya youth said.
