Fear spread across Balukhali-1 Camp 10 on Wednesday night after an armed attack was reportedly carried out against a Rohingya family in Block H-37.
According to local sources, the incident happened at around 8:30 PM when several armed men, believed by residents to be members of the RSO, allegedly entered a family’s shelter and attempted to take away a Rohingya man by force.
Witnesses said the victim’s wife tried to stop the men and protect her husband. During the confrontation, gunfire was reportedly opened, leaving residents terrified and causing panic throughout the area.
A local resident said, “We heard gunshots and people started running in fear. Families were afraid to leave their shelters.”
Another refugee said, “We want to live in peace. Ordinary refugees should not have to live with fear of violence inside the camps.”
Community members expressed concern over growing insecurity and said that armed activities continue to threaten the safety of refugees. Many residents believe stronger security measures are needed to protect families and prevent further violence.
“We appeal to the authorities to take action and ensure the safety of all refugees,” another camp resident said. “People should be able to live without fear.”
Refugees also called on the Bangladesh government, camp authorities, and international organizations to take urgent steps to improve security and restore peace in the camps. They said that past violence has already caused suffering for many families, including the separation of children from parents and other serious hardships.
The incident has increased concerns among residents, who continue to call for stronger protection and a safer environment for all refugees living in the camps.
