Yesterday, Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen assured to keep hopes up for the Rohingya return after his meeting with Chinese special envoy Deng Xijun.

In a press briefing, Minister Momen said, “Yes, we had a courtesy meeting with a Chinese special envoy. Surely, there was a discussion on the Rohingya repatriation. We hope they will return to their homes with dignity.”

He also added that, many are working to help facilitate the Rohingya repatriation – “I should say that China has taken a very good initiative and they are working accordingly.”

Recently, Chinese special envoy visited Myanmar and are working to facilitate the discussion between Bangladesh and Myanmar and hopes that the Rohingyas would start returning to their homes.

Currently, Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen is traveling to Myanmar and is scheduled to return home on Wednesday.

Apparently, Bangladesh is hosting 1.1 million refugees and the host country believes the solution of Rohingya crisis lies on returning them to their homeland with safety and dignity.
