More than 15 Rohingya shelters were flooded in Block D-1 of Camp 25 following heavy rainfall on Monday morning, causing hardship for refugee families and damaging household belongings.
Residents said rainwater entered their shelters after several hours of continuous rainfall, forcing families to rush to protect bedding, clothing, and other essential items.

“We could not sleep because water kept coming into our shelter throughout the night,” one resident told Rohingya Khobor. “We tried to save our bedding and clothes, but many things got wet.”
Several affected families reported damage to mattresses, blankets, clothing, and other household belongings. Some residents used buckets to remove water from their shelters, while others sought assistance from neighbors.

Another resident said that flooding remains a recurring concern during the monsoon season.
“Every monsoon season brings the same fear. When it rains heavily, we worry about our children and whether our shelter can withstand the weather,” the resident said.

Camp residents called for improved drainage systems and stronger shelter infrastructure to reduce the impact of seasonal flooding.

The incident has renewed concerns over the vulnerability of Rohingya refugee camps to heavy rainfall, flooding, and other weather-related risks during the monsoon season.
