Maungdaw Township, Arakan State | June 2, 2026
Residents of Kya Gong Taung village tract in northern Maungdaw Township say the Arakan Army has ordered all families to leave the area within three days, creating fear and uncertainty among local Rohingya residents.
According to local sources, Kya Gong Taung village tract is home to 10 households with a total population of 54 people.
Residents said the order was issued on May 29 when an Arakan Army battalion based in Ngar Khu Ya village reportedly summoned local village administrators and informed them that all residents must vacate the village tract within three days.
According to local sources, villagers were told to relocate to destinations of their own choosing.
Sources further alleged that the Arakan Army warned that action would be taken against anyone who remained in the area after the deadline.
The sudden order has left many families uncertain about their future.
Residents said they were not given a clear explanation for the relocation directive and received no information regarding relocation assistance or alternative accommodation.
“We do not know where to go,” one resident told Rohingya Khobor. “Many families have children and elderly people. Moving within three days is very difficult for us.”
Another resident expressed concern about safety and survival after leaving the village.
“We are anxious because we do not know what awaits us after leaving our homes,” the resident said.
Local residents said the announcement has caused panic among villagers, with many families struggling to find a place to relocate before the deadline expires.
At the time of reporting, no official public explanation had been provided regarding the reason for the reported evacuation order.
