A Rohingya man was beaten and reportedly left unconscious after an attack in Camp 8W on Monday, according to local sources.
The victim was identified as Mohammed Ayas, a resident of Camp 10. His family also has connections to Camp 8W.
People familiar with the incident told Rohingya Khobor that Ayas was attacked near a three-way junction in Camp 8W during daylight hours.
Local sources said he was physically assaulted and left on the ground after the attackers fled. He was reportedly unconscious following the attack.
The reason for the assault remains unclear.
Local sources alleged that individuals associated with the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) were involved in the attack. Rohingya Khobor could not independently verify the alleged affiliation of the attackers.
Further details about Ayas’s injuries and current condition were not immediately available. It was also unclear whether the incident had been reported to camp authorities or whether anyone had been detained in connection with the attack.
Rohingya Khobor is seeking further information about the circumstances of the assault and Ayas’s condition.
