Rohingya refugees caught while attempting to flee to Malaysia

A boat, carrying ten Rohingya refugees onboard, was apprehended by Bangladeshi defense, at around 8:30 am on Friday, 7th December, near Shahporir Deep.
Later RAB officer Major Mehedi Hasan deducted that, “The recovered are identified as Rohingya refugees who entered Bangladesh during last year’s influx”. He also identifed the Human trafficker behind this as Abdur Rahman(25) and with his team raided the individual’s house and arrested him. “The refugees were brought here on Thursday after paying an advance of tk ten thousand to the trafficker, while another two lakh was to be delivered upon their arrival in Malaysia”, said officer Mehedi Hasan.
Following the arrest and interrogation, the refugees and the trafficker Rahman were sent to be held at Teknaf Model Police station.
