A young Rohingya student was seriously injured after a violent attack in Block F02-C07 of Kutupalong Refugee Camp on the night of May 16, creating fear and tension among residents in the area.
According to local sources, the incident took place at around 8:00 PM when a man identified as Shaker, also known as Abdul Hamid, reportedly came from Camp-07 and attacked a young Rohingya man named Sufait Alom.
Community members said Sufait Alom is known as a former SMS volunteer, a student, and an active member of Rohingya Gen-Z.
Sources alleged that the attacker used a gun to physically assault and torture the victim during the incident. Witnesses said Sufait Alom was struck multiple times on his forehead and near his left eye, causing severe injuries, heavy bleeding, and deep cuts.
Residents described the attack as brutal and frightening. Following the incident, Sufait Alom reportedly suffered intense pain and physical weakness due to his injuries.
Local sources said the victim is around 20 years old and lives in the camp with his elderly parents.
The incident has triggered fear among nearby residents, with community members calling for proper action to prevent further violence inside the refugee camps.
