Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh | June 4, 2026

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to visit Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar during an official visit to Bangladesh on June 5 and 6, according to diplomatic sources. The visit comes as nearly one million Rohingya refugees continue to live in camps after fleeing persecution and violence in Myanmar.

Fidan’s visit is being made at the invitation of Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, and will mark his first official trip to Bangladesh.

During the visit, Fidan is expected to meet senior Bangladeshi officials and travel to Cox’s Bazar to observe conditions in the refugee camps. He is also expected to meet representatives of Turkish humanitarian organizations operating in the camps, including TİKA, the Turkish Red Crescent, the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, and the Türkiye Field Hospital.

Türkiye has remained one of the key humanitarian partners supporting Rohingya refugees since the mass displacement from Myanmar. Turkish government agencies and charitable organizations have provided assistance in areas such as food, healthcare, education, and emergency relief.

According to diplomatic sources, Fidan is expected to reaffirm Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Rohingya refugees and emphasize the need for sustained international attention to the Rohingya crisis.

The visit is also expected to include discussions on continued humanitarian assistance and broader cooperation between Türkiye and Bangladesh in responding to the needs of Rohingya refugees.

For many Rohingya refugees, continued international engagement remains critical as prospects for a safe, voluntary, and dignified return to Myanmar remain uncertain.
