On Wednesday (22 February)  around 2 pm, a fierce clash broke out between two Rohingya separatist groups over supremacy in camp where two minor children received bullet injury to critical condition.

The clash took place in Irani Hills, west A block of camp No. 8 in Ukhiya

The injured children are a 11 year-old daughter of Obaidul Haque of F block of the camp and an 8 year old child of Abdul Khalek of the same camp.

Mohammad Ali officer in charge Ukhiya police station confirmed the matter and said that  2 bullet injured children were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment after giving first aid at MSF Hospital in Ukhiya camp.

Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) Sayed Harunur Rashid, commander of the 14 Armed Police Battalion (APBN) assigned to the security of the Rohingya camp, said, “Clashes and shootings took place between two terrorist groups over the dominance in Rohingya camp.  Two children were shot.  Meanwhile, UH was shot in the back side above the waist and AF  was shot in the right leg.”

He further said that sensing the presence of Armed Police Battalion (APBn), the 2 groups left the scene. Efforts are underway to arrest the criminals.
