On Friday around 7 pm, unidentified men kidnapped 5 Rohingyas at gun point from Alikhali Rohingya camp of Teknaf, while they were sitting in a shop. The next evening one of five was recovered with severed wrist.
According to locals, some 10-15 miscreants came to Alikhali Rohingya camp at about 7 pm, and picked up five refugees at gun point and took them to mountain western side of the camp. The next day, the kidnappers asked for a ransom of 3.5 lakh taka for each. On the other hand, on Saturday evening the kidnappers laid one Jahangir son of Samsul Alam with severed wrist near barbed wire fence. Having the information, police and near by refugees recovered Jahangir in critical condition with wrist cut, who was taken to camp base hospital for treatment.
A police officer said that the kidnappers abducted five Rohingyas and released one with severed wrist of left hand. Operation is underway to recover the other four.
Conscious people claim that incidents like abductions are intentional despite the strict surveillance of the law and order forces in the camp.
