On 1 March 2022, while staying at a house building at Pale Shwe Road no.4, in Ward no. (2) of Myawaddy Township, the police force led by Police Chief Myo Min Zaw from Myawaddy Township arrested 72 Rohingyas who were smuggled for Malaysia.

Amidst the arrestee were 27 Rohingya men, 35 women including 10 minor Rohingyas. They were all from Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State.

These Rohingyas are lured by human traffickers with promises of jobs in Malaysia. Each of the victims had to pay 2,000,000 MMK (equivalent to $1200) to the human traffickers.

They were taken from the Township of Maungdaw, in Rakhine State to the Township Myawaddy in Karen State.

According to a local, these human traffickings are controlled by some powerful Rakhines in the Rakhine states.

Currently, more than 2000 Rohingyas are dwelling in various jails in the many states of Myanmar.
