Minbya Township, Rakhine State | May 7, 2026
Residents in Minbya Township said the Myanmar Junta carried out airstrikes on mountain areas near Kyauk Htut village on Wednesday afternoon, using multiple fighter jets during the operation.
According to local sources, the bombing began at around 2:30 PM on May 7 and continued for more than an hour. Residents reported that aircraft arrived one after another and dropped bombs on mountainous areas near the village, forcing nearby families to seek shelter.
A Rohingya resident from the area told Rohingya Khobor, “The planes kept coming one after another. We heard loud explosions from the mountains, and everyone became very afraid.”
Sources also reported strikes near the Thit Pote Taung area, although the number of casualties and the extent of damage could not be independently confirmed.
Residents said the sound of aircraft and repeated bombing raids have created growing fear among civilians living near conflict zones.
“When we hear the jets, we do not dare to stay outside,” another villager said. “Children are crying, and families are hiding because we fear another attack could happen at any time.”
Local residents further claimed that larger numbers of aircraft are increasingly being used in operations across Rakhine State. While previous strikes were often reported to involve one or two aircraft, some recent attacks have reportedly involved several jets operating in sequence.
The reported airstrikes come amid continued fighting in parts of Rakhine State, where civilians have repeatedly expressed concern over aerial attacks and displacement risks.
