A Rohingya family of five fled to Bangladesh after receiving a notice from the Arakan Army instructing them to send two daughters to a camp, according to local sources. The family crossed the border on April 15 after leaving their home in Buthidaung Township.
Sources said the incident took place in Kenothi village, where a Rohingya man received a letter on April 14 ordering him to send his two daughters, Ajeda, 18, and Nur Ana, 16, to an Arakan Army camp.
Fearing for their safety, the family left the village immediately and traveled on foot before crossing into Bangladesh.
A local resident told Rohingya Khobor, “The family was very scared after getting the letter. They did not feel safe to stay in the village anymore.”
Another source said the incident has increased fear among residents in the area. “Many people are worried. They fear similar orders could be given to other families,” the source said.
Sources said the family is now in Bangladesh seeking safety after their departure.
Residents said the situation in Buthidaung remains tense, with growing concern among Rohingya communities.
