Cox’s Bazar, 30 June 2025 |
In a bid to strengthen security and improve public order, the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) has announced a ban on all unregistered and unlicensed vehicles operating inside the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar.
According to the official directive, the ban covers a wide range of vehicles, including:
- Motorcycles
- CNG auto-rickshaws
- Battery-powered rickshaws and vans
- Private cars, microbuses, pickups, and trucks
Any of these vehicles operating without valid registration, government approval, or licenses will no longer be permitted inside the camps.
The notice places particular emphasis on motorcycles, stating that those without legal registration or a licensed driver are strictly prohibited. The RRRC has warned that violations will result in seizure of vehicles and legal action, including other administrative measures.
“This decision was made to maintain peace and discipline in the camps,” the RRRC stated. “We urge all residents and stakeholders to fully cooperate.”
The administration has called on both Rohingya residents and humanitarian workers to follow the new regulations in order to create a safer and more orderly environment for everyone living and working in the camps.
Authorities confirmed that strict enforcement measures will be carried out as part of broader efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
