Two Rohingya youths from Mangala Village in Maungdaw Township were reportedly taken into custody by members of the Arakan Army on May 28, according to local residents.
The two individuals were identified as Ahlas, 21, son of Md Ayoub, and Ali Ahmed, 23.
According to local sources, both young men come from ordinary families and are not known within the community for involvement in armed groups or political activities.
Residents said the two youths were taken away by Arakan Army members, but no explanation was reportedly provided for their detention.
Family members and relatives said they have not received any information regarding the condition or whereabouts of the two men since they were taken.
Local community members expressed concern over the incident and called for information about their safety.
Residents also urged authorities to release the two youths if they are being held in custody.
At the time of reporting, the whereabouts of Ahlas and Ali Ahmed remained unknown, according to local sources.
