The Arakan Army (AA) has reportedly imposed a temporary restriction on travel between Rohingya villages for the next three weeks, according to local sources who attended a meeting in Taung Bazar on June 17.
Sources said AA officials announced the measure during a meeting held at around 2:00 p.m., informing residents that Rohingya villagers would not be permitted to travel from one village to another during the restriction period.
The reason for the restriction was not immediately explained.
The reported announcement has raised concerns among Rohingya residents who rely on travel between villages for family visits, trade, employment, healthcare, and other daily needs.
Several residents said the restriction could create additional difficulties for families already facing movement limitations and economic hardship.
At the time of reporting, it remained unclear whether exemptions would be granted for medical emergencies, business activities, or other essential travel.
Community members said they are waiting for further clarification from AA authorities regarding the scope of the restriction and how it will be implemented.
Rohingya residents in the area said they hope additional information will be provided in the coming days as the situation develops.
