The Arakan Army (AA) says four people were killed after the Myanmar military carried out a series of airstrikes on the former Kyain Chaung military base in Maungdaw Township on Thursday afternoon.
According to the AA, the attack began at around 3:00 p.m., when two military fighter jets reportedly conducted six bombing runs, dropping six 500-pound bombs between 3:00 p.m. and 3:13 p.m.
The AA said a Y-12 aircraft then carried out five additional bombing runs between 3:17 p.m. and 3:32 p.m., reportedly dropping another 27 bombs.
The armed group claimed that a total of 33 bombs were dropped during the operation.

According to the AA, those killed included a Myanmar military captain assigned to provide medical care to prisoners of war, along with three other Myanmar military personnel.
The AA also said several buildings inside the detention facility were damaged during the bombardment.
In addition, the group claimed that some of its own members may have been killed or injured in the airstrikes, although it did not provide casualty figures.
The reported casualties and damage have not been independently verified, and the Myanmar military had not publicly commented on the incident at the time of publication.
