The Government of Bangladesh has provided 400 metric tons of rice to support food assistance for Rohingya refugees living in camps in Cox’s Bazar.
The rice was officially handed over during a ceremony attended by the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), representatives of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the United Nations, the World Food Programme (WFP), and other humanitarian organizations.
According to officials, the contribution is intended to support ongoing food assistance for Rohingya refugees through cooperation between the Government of Bangladesh and WFP.
Later the same day, WFP Bangladesh Resident Representative and Country Director Dom Scalpelli met with the RRRC to discuss the humanitarian response in the refugee camps.

During the meeting, WFP said it had distributed 5,000 packets of hot meals and fortified biscuits to people affected by the recent emergency situation in the camps.
