Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh – February 26, 2025

The Arakan Rohingya Football Federation Tournament 2025 concluded with an electrifying final match at Camp-4 football field, where Namay-2 emerged victorious, defeating Inndin Team Namay-8 to claim the championship title.

This victory not only secured their status as the best football team in the Rohingya Refugee Camps but also marked a significant moment of pride and unity for the displaced community.

The captain of Namay-2 won the Player of the Match award and was the top scorer in the Arakan Rohingya Football Federation 2025 tournament.

A Thrilling Final Match

The championship match witnessed an intense battle between the two strongest teams of the tournament. Both Namay-2 and Inndin Team Namay-8 displayed remarkable skill, determination, and teamwork, making it a closely contested game.

The match remained tense until Namay-2 managed to break through with a decisive goal, sealing their victory and earning them the tournament trophy.

Mohammad Younus from the Inndin Football Team has been named both ‘Man of the Year’ and ‘Midfielder of the Year’ in the 2025 Arakan Rohingya Football Federation! His outstanding performance and dedication on the field have earned him these well-deserved accolades.

The players of Namay-2 showcased exceptional talent and strategy throughout the competition, proving themselves as a dominant force in Rohingya football.

Meanwhile, Inndin Team Namay-8, despite their loss in the final, won the hearts of the crowd with their relentless efforts and sportsmanship.

A Tournament of Unity, Resilience, and Hope

Organized by the Arakan Rohingya Football Federation (ARFF) with the support of the CIC of RRRC, the tournament aimed to bring hope, unity, and mental strength to the refugee community through the universal love of football.

“This is more than just a game; it’s a way to heal, inspire, and bring joy to a struggling community. Such events create solidarity and offer young people a healthy and positive outlet,” – Tournament Organizers

Despite the hardships faced by the Rohingya people, football has become a beacon of resilience and determination, giving the youth an opportunity to dream beyond their current struggles.

Community Reactions and Support

Following the final, players, organizers, and community leaders expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such an event.

Many highlighted how sports can serve as a powerful tool for mental relief and social bonding, especially in refugee settings where young people have limited recreational opportunities.

Anayat, a champion from the Arakan Rohingya Football Federation, shared his excitement:

“Football is more than just a game for us—it is our hope, our unity, and our strength. Even in the hardest times, it gives us a reason to dream. With the right support, Rohingya players can show the world our talent, just like many great footballers who came from struggles. Together, we can turn dreams into reality.”

Another Rohingya player expressed appreciation for the Bangladesh government, RRRC, TIKA, and supporting NGOs, stating:

“Thank you for giving us this opportunity. We are very happy to see that people care about us. This tournament is not just about winning or losing; it is about reminding us of our roots and keeping us united as a community.”

Words from the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC)

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Mizanur Rahman, the Honorable Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), addressed the players and the community, emphasizing the deeper significance of the tournament:

“Football is more than just a game; it brings positivity, happiness, peace, and unity to the Rohingya community. Winning or losing doesn’t matter—what matters is that you remember your roots. You are from Arakan, and you are citizens of Myanmar. Stay united, and let the world see your strength. This tournament will continue every year, but your ultimate goal should always be Arakan.”

A Competitive and Successful Tournament

This year’s tournament featured 16 teams competing in a knockout format, making every match highly competitive. Namay-2’s journey to the championship was defined by resilience and skill, as they overcame strong opponents in every round.

Inndin Team Namay-8 finished as the proud runners-up.

Inndin Team Namay-8 also showcased exceptional performance throughout the tournament, proving themselves as one of the top teams despite falling short in the final match.

Looking Ahead: A Future for Rohingya Football

With the success of the 2025 tournament, the Arakan Rohingya Football Federation has committed to organizing similar events in the coming years.

Encouraging more youth participation in sports is seen as a key step in fostering teamwork, discipline, and hope within the refugee community.

As the champions lifted the trophy, the camp community united in celebration, proving that even in the face of adversity, football can bring joy, strength, and unity to those who need it most.

I play football for the Arakan Rohingya Football Federation,” said Anayet.

The next step for Rohingya footballers? More opportunities, more recognition, and a chance to showcase their talent on a larger stage. The tournament may be over, but the spirit of resilience, hope, and sportsmanship will continue to thrive in the hearts of the Rohingya youth.

Final Standings:

🥇 Champions: Namay-2
🥈 Runners-Up: Inndin Team Namay-8

As anticipation builds for the next edition of the tournament, the Rohingya community remains hopeful that football will continue to serve as a powerful unifier and a source of inspiration for future generations.
