A Rohingya woman was seriously injured after she was allegedly attacked by her husband in Hakimpara Camp-14 on Monday morning around 8:00 am.The incident took place at around 8:00 AM in G Block of the camp.
According to local residents, the woman, identified as Sajida, 34, suffered multiple injuries after being attacked with a knife by her husband, Abdur Rahman, 36.
Community members said Sajida is originally from Nondha Khali village in Maungdaw Township, Myanmar. Before fleeing to Bangladesh, she was married and lived in Mangala village. The family is currently living in Camp-14.
Residents have shared different accounts about the possible reason behind the incident. Some claimed that the husband was involved with yaba, while others said there had been ongoing disagreements between the couple. However, the exact cause of the attack has not been officially confirmed.
Following the incident, Sajida was rushed for emergency medical treatment. According to people in the camp, her injuries were severe, and her condition remains critical.
A local resident said, “We were shocked when we heard what happened. Everyone is praying for her recovery.”
Another community member said, “Violence inside families causes great suffering. We hope such incidents can be prevented in the future.”
Domestic violence remains a serious concern in refugee camps, where many families face economic hardship, stress, and other challenges. Community leaders and humanitarian organizations continue to raise awareness about the importance of protecting women and preventing violence in homes.
The incident is under discussion within the community, and more information is expected to emerge as authorities and camp officials look into the case.
