More than 152,000 Rohingya have arrived in Bangladesh since December 2024 after fleeing conflict, insecurity, and deteriorating conditions in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, according to recent registration data.
Records show that 152,260 newly arrived Rohingya were registered between December 2024 and May 31, 2026. Of that number, 2,260 people were registered during May alone.
The total Rohingya population recorded in the refugee camps in Bangladesh has now reached 1,197,411.
The latest arrivals reflect a renewed wave of displacement driven by ongoing fighting and instability in Rakhine State. Since 2024, increasing violence and insecurity have forced many Rohingya families to flee their homes and seek refuge across the border.
According to registration records, 1,045,382 Rohingya who fled Myanmar during earlier waves of displacement since 1990 and 2017 have been officially registered in Bangladesh. Among them, 39,737 arrived after 1990, while more than one million fled during and after the mass exodus of 2017.
Authorities and humanitarian agencies are continuing biometric registration and identification efforts for newly arrived refugees to update camp records and improve assistance planning.
Women and children account for 78 percent of the registered refugee population. Humanitarian agencies also identify around 12 percent of refugees as particularly vulnerable, including people with disabilities, single-parent households, individuals with serious medical conditions, unaccompanied children, and elderly people requiring additional care and protection.
The continued arrival of Rohingya refugees underscores the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Myanmar and highlights the growing challenges facing refugee communities and aid providers in Bangladesh.
