Malaysia and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their support for the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar during a bilateral meeting between Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Bangladesh’s Acting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The two leaders discussed the ongoing situation in Myanmar and emphasized the importance of engaging all relevant stakeholders in efforts to achieve a lasting solution to the Rohingya crisis.
Malaysia expressed appreciation for Bangladesh’s continued role in hosting and supporting Rohingya refugees and reiterated that sustainable repatriation remains the most effective solution to the protracted crisis.
The meeting also focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in a range of sectors, including trade and investment, energy, artificial intelligence (AI), the digital economy, education, human resource development, agriculture, the halal industry, and workforce management.

Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues and underscored the importance of dialogue, peace, and mutual respect in addressing shared challenges.
Malaysia described Bangladesh as an important partner in South Asia and expressed confidence that expanded cooperation could contribute to economic growth and greater prosperity for people in both countries.
Officials said the discussions reflected a shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for future collaboration.
