The district administration has formed a seven-member investigation committee headed by Additional District Magistrate Md. Abu Sufian to investigate the devastating fire which took place in Balukhali camp-11 on Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran told the reporter that this committee was formed on Sunday evening.  The committee will give a written report on the fire within the next three days.  Then legal action will be taken.  The constituted committee includes one representative from the District Police, one from the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), one from the Armed Police Battalion (APBN), one from the Fire Service, one from the Intelligence Agency.

Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Md. Mizanur Rahman said that subversive fire destroyed more than 2,000 Rohingya shelters making more than 12,000 Rohingyas homeless. About 700 fire victims have been moved to transit camp and dry food is being distributed among others.

The general refugees claim that some active members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) intentionally blazed as the most of the people in burnt area were fully against the separatist group ARSA.

Some fire victims in a video clips said they saw the ARSA members blazing the shelters.

Refugees believe that truth will come out during the investigation and those whose involvement found in the fire will be brought under the hardest exemplary punishment.
