A tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning in Block D, L3 of Camp 18, around 9:30 Am, where a woman was reportedly killed by her husband while she was sleeping.
According to family members and local sources, Mohammed Taher allegedly threw a grinding stone at the head of his wife, Minara Begum, 29, during a domestic dispute. The attack caused severe injuries to her head and other parts of her body. She reportedly died at the scene.
According to neighbors, Mohammed Tahar was a fisherman who worked on a daily basis. In the past year, there was a conflict between him and his wife. During that time, he was reportedly injured his wife after being attacked with a knife, as he was allegedly involved with another woman. It was also claimed that this situation caused mental distress, and he later received treatment from his wife, which helped him recover slightly. However, his mental condition was still not stable.
On the day of the incident, around 6:30 a.m., both of them collected water from the water tap. After some time, his wife fell asleep in their shelter. Unexpectedly, he allegedly killed her by throwing a grinding stone at her head.
Minara Begum was the daughter of Zakair and Senu Wara. She was the mother of three children and lived with her family in Camp 18. The family consisted of six members, including the deceased.
Sources said that after carrying out the attack, Mohammed Taher immediately fled from the shelter. Later, reports indicated that he went to a police station and informed the authorities about the incident.
The incident has shocked residents of the camp, and many expressed sadness over the loss of a young mother.
Authorities are investigating the case, and further details are expected as the investigation continues.
